Overcoming anxiety can sometimes feel impossible especially if you are experiencing it constantly and in intense levels. Sometimes, it feels like it’s just easier to just give in and let anxiety take over your life. All you can do is wait for it to subside so you can live your life normally again. That’s not a way to live one’s life. if you are one of these people who let anxiety win every single time, it’s time you learn how to overcome anxiety and show it who’s boss.
Control Your Thoughts
Anxiety is mostly based on your fears, which are basically just thoughts. So the first step in discovering how to overcome anxiety is to control your thoughts. Always try to focus on positive thoughts like your goals, the things that make you happy and what needs to be done at the moment that will help you move forward. Keep the majority of your thoughts focused on these things. For a about 30 minutes a day, reserve it for your negative thoughts. Think about the things that scare you and that worry you. And then think about what you can do stop being scared or worried about them. Keep these thoughts relegated to this particular time of day so they won’t keep popping up randomly during the rest of your day, giving you more time for more focused and organized thoughts.
Motivate Yourself
While you keep your thoughts organized, you should also keep your priorities organized. Keeping your priorities in order gives you a sense of control that in turn gives you more power in keeping bad thoughts and negative feelings away. You can motivate yourself simply by listing down your goals for the day, for the week, for the month or for an entire year. Write down some inspiring words or display motivational images in your living space so you can always have a positive force around you driving you to keep the bad thoughts out.
Ask For Help
Knowing how to overcome anxiety is knowing how to ask for help. Going into battle against your fears and dark thoughts can be a very lonely experience and if you don’t have people covering your back, you will easily fall to the forces of anxiety. Always bring back up in this fight by talking to your friends and family about your anxiety problems. Simply talking to people usually helps a lot in alleviating anxiety quickly.
